We don’t board our ship home until 3:15pm but although we have a delayed checkout we met vacate by noon. We had breakfast in Dome again and then updated these blogs and ironed, repacked and labelled our cases.
We caught a taxi and luckily enough were allowed to drop our 4 cases a and hold-all even though we couldn’t check in yet. We decided to walk into Fremantle for drinks / lunch. It turned out to be 20mins walk in 31c heat so we found a few places to drink, and then eat, and crash.
Fremantle is still pretty in the day time. There are old buildings of about 150 years old plus areas which are very modern plus one area that reminded us of the UK new town layout.
We got back to the port just before 3:30 and there were no queues just lots of different people to see checking different bits of paperwork.
We unpacked and reported ourselves to our muster station. We were pleased to hear that our captain was Mr Andrew Hall who made a welcome onboard announcement to the new guests. We have sailed with him before so hopefully no issues will arise. After that Mark dozed and Pam slept for almost 3hrs. We are truly exhausted from the travelling and the heat and now we are settled onboard, in a comfy bed, our bodies have just said enough. Recuperate.
We met our room steward Ray at 8:30pm when we were about to go to the buffet for dinner - we had the do not disturb sign on until then. The ship didn’t depart Fremantle until 10pm so we had that scene in the background as we ate a very light meal. We are still too tired to eat much.
Then back to our room to relax and an early night.
We knew our Australian itinerary was ambitious but we are unlikely to go again and pushed it to the edge. We have seen some wonderful sights and have some fantastic memories but I think our bodies quit us in Perth and we shall see how long it takes for them to forgive us.
