Mar 10th - Uluru to Sydney to Bowral

We slept in. Yay! We didn’t need to check out till 10am and our shuttle to the airport was at 10:50 so we got as much sleep as we could and had breakfast in the town square.

The place to book a last minute tour if you are lucky

A strange thing happened as we ate breakfast. A voice from the table behind us said “excuse me but weren’t you on the Arcadia?” Yes, it was one of the couples from a dinner in the Meridian restaurant. As Walt Disney would say - it’s a small, small world. They had gotten off in Auckland and were travelling and had just arrived here. They are also due on the Queen Mary 2 so no doubt we will come across them again.

The shuttle to the airport was uneventful though, as you can imagine, the airport is small so queues galore.

The flight went to plan and Pam watched videos and Mark dozed but he did capture this video from the window.

Salt lakes from the air - Mark loves this shot

We arrived back at the airport and shuttled it back to the car in the car park which was safe and sound but was hiding from us for a while - remember we were running late a few days ago so it was a mad rush to dump the car and run for the shuttle bus.

All was good for our 2 hour drive to Bowral which was a nice little town and we had a decent little motel.

Our hotel bed
Nice clean and tiled bathroom which had a shower

We then an absolutely fantastic meal at a local Italian restaurant where we were served by a young girl who recognised we were from England as Pam sounded “like her mum” who apparently emigrated here 30 years ago! We had bruschetta to start followed by lasagne (Pam) / Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli (Mark) with salads. Then enormous tiramisu for dessert. We staggered off to bed full after that meal.

We ate in BD’s Pizza and Pasta joint which is in a building that used to be The Grand Hotel
