Jan 26th - Another Sea Day

This was a nothing day. Mark’s exertions yesterday with the gym and cricket led to a very restless night as all joints and muscles from lower back down complained that they were about to drop off. He tried to attend the 9:30am lecture but gave up and stiffly walked back to the cabin where he slept until 2pm. He is now on Australia time but unfortunately about 25 days too early.

Pam here-  I saw the lecture, it was all about the Polynesian islands like Tahiti and Easter island, it was interesting but it was very short as the talk only lasted 25 mins. Hoping his next talk will be on the Hawaiian islands that we are heading to. After the lecture I then tried to use the internet and bought a 24hr pass starting at 11:30am. I managed to talk to Emily but I could not get through to  Katherine or anyone else. Very frustrating. Then, after lunch, I came back to the room at 2:30 and slept for a few hours. It seems we are basically a relay sleeping team today.

Whilst Pam slept Mark tried to tackle the internet issue which ended with a refund as the system had been down since noon with no idea when it will be back.

We had a light buffet supper today as we both feel a little washed out for some reason. We met our quiz partners in the buffet area so ate together. Then the ladies went off to the evening show - a Michael Buble show. The guy was called Mike Appleton and was a tribute act. He was very good and I enjoyed it a lot. Even the talking between songs sounded like Michael Buble. The men were let off for good behaviour. We finished the evening with a couple of quizzes - we had to defend our syndicate quiz title where we started on minus 1. We put up a good defence but of course the eggheads team won. Boo.

We will finish this day’s blog with our ship tour area. As promised yesterday, today we will cover The Globe venue which is mainly accessed from the art gallery but also has another rear entrance we recently found by accident.

More or less the other side

It is very much an all purpose venue. At night it is where the resident band “Pulse” perform as well as being a nightclub. During the day there are things like choir and a ukulele classes (the class on here sold out instantly so there are about 50 people wandering around the ship with Ukuleles).

They also do classical music recitals in here so the venue is always busy.

The other thing to note is that is always cold in here - mainly because they expect you to dance for evening but you can often tell the folks who do regular classes in here as they have jackets on.
