2nd Feb - Sea Day

The whole ship seems shattered but Maritime law states that we have to do a monthly evacuation exercise (called a muster drill) and today is the day for it apparently. Most people just want to sleep. Pam is annoyed as she is very much a rule follower and P&O comms are shite so they are giving out contradictory messages depending on what they print where and who says what. We have to either:

  1. Report to our Muster Station with just our Cruise card (and watch the stateroom safety video again);

  2. Report to the muster station with our life jacket.

Plus

  1. Perform this at 10am

  2. Perform this anytime between 10-11am

  3. Perform this, when called, between 10-11am.

The “quiz answers” to this will be given later.

Meanwhile, back to our ship tour and today’s area is the one opposite Cafe Vivvo and the cinema on deck 3. It is the essentials shop. There are many shops onboard - you will have to be a bit patient for these all we cover them later but this shop sells Arcadia branded goods as well as snacks and things like toothpaste, sun cream.

Mark heaven. Put them down. Look how big that tummy is already!

We have just mustered and the answer was 1c.

The rest of the day was very leisurely with naps, swimming, sunbathing, snacking and lots of chatting with friends. The temperatures reached 30c and after being cooked for 20 minutes Mark sought the shade.

We did the Jukebox quiz and lost by 1 point because we didn’t know the artists of “Hey Baby”; “Star Trekkin” or “Black Velvet”. Soooo close.

Pam went off to a Flamenco guitarist show in the Globe. She said it was amazing and so beautifully played. The guitarist explained that Flamenco is a rhythm like Jazz and not like a composition to play. More performances to come.

Then it was another Black Tie dinner and we joined our friends Sandra and Paul for a table for 4. They also take food pics so here are a couple.

We both had this for starter

Pamela’s main was lamb

Mark had beef wellington

After our meal we took in the early theatre show of Taffy Spencer (comedian and magician). Again, very entertaining though I am beginning to think these comedians share cruise related jokes.

Then, surprise, surprise we only went and beat the eggheads in the spinnaker quiz on a tie-break question. It needn’t have been that hard if the teammates had listened to Mark who knew that Wombat poo is cube shaped but a win (over the arch enemy) is all that matters. 2 more prize stamps to add to our collection - we may have enough for a notepad now 😆.

Sleep is better when victorious.
